Consultation is by appointment.  Patients must make an appointment to see a doctor. If you have more than one health concern or a complex issue to discuss, please request a longer appointment at the time of booking. Same day appointments are available for urgent cases. A separate appointment must be made for each family member. Appointments can be made in person, online or over the phone (Walk-in appointments available). Please let our receptionist know if you require prompt attention for matters such as chest pain, burns, eye injury etc. For patients seen at the practice within the past 12 months, we can conduct consultations by video or telephone.

Nobody likes to be kept waiting. Our staff understand this and endeavour to manage all appointments as punctually as possible. However, due to the unpredictable nature of a medical practice – doctors do frequently run behind time. We regret any inconvenience caused due to these delays. Please feel free to contact our surgery staff to confirm whether your doctor is running on time BEFORE you arrive for your appointment. For continuity of care it is recommended to see your usual doctor, however, if they are unavailable you are welcome to see one of the other doctors in the practice.

House calls in extenuating circumstances or where an existing patient of the Practice is terminally ill may be arranged at the discretion of your doctor.  Please remember that some problems are better managed at the surgery.

Legal requirements prevent backdating of referrals so please ensure you have a valid referral before your specialist appointment.

It is the Policy of Myhealth Foxwell Road not to interrupt doctors with telephone calls from patients during consultations.  If our nurse is unable to help you, our receptionists will be happy to forward your message to the Doctor.  It is preferred that patients make an appointment to discuss any concerns with their doctor in person. Our nurse will triage any urgent phone calls.

Whatever your preferred language; we can help you organise an interpreter to assist with any language barriers. Please inform reception when making your appointment or phone the TIS 1300 131 450 for a telephone translator service.

We also arrange interpreters through the National Auslan Interpreter Service, for our hearing-impaired patients.

To obtain results you must make an appointment to see your doctor. A practice staff member may contact you to advise you that your results have returned, and the doctor requires you to attend for the results or alternatively you will receive a ’health information’ text message. In adherence to our Privacy Policy, results will not be given out over the phone.  Patients are advised to inform reception of any privacy concerns regarding phone calls.

As part of our commitment to preventative health, patients may receive an SMS or letter to remind them they are due to attend the surgery for a follow-up appointment.

Myhealth Foxwell Road also participates in national and state-based reminders systems such as Cervical Screening and Immunisation registers. If you do not wish to participate in this reminder system please notify your doctor at the time of consultation.
